John O'Callaghan feat. Sarah Howells - Find Yourself (Music Video)

Here is the opening shot for John O Callaghan music video as it show a load of comic pages stuck on a wall. This shot almost tells us that the video is going to be based on a comic of some sorts and in most comics theres a hero, a villain and a hostage. The lighting used for this shot is very dull with some light on the left hand side this would be caused by natural light coming in a window or just the light which is in the room.

This shot shows John as he puts on a spacesuit with a a reflective lens on the helmet. This follows the whole comic book concept as he has put on his costume to be come a hero. the costume is unusual as it isn't something that most people would see everyday so it makes us think that he is different. the lighting used for this shot appears to be a yellow spot light coming from the right of the shot.

In this shot it shows that John is no longer in his room getting ready as he is out in the open in the middle of nowhere just walking around. this shot shows both the location change and just how far away he is as the camera backs away from him. the lighting used for this shot appears to be natural light as they are out in the open although the editor has made the trees closer to the camera darker although the mountains in the background appear to be in focus along with John which is a bit weird.

This shot shows a girl (most likely to be Sarah Howells) in the woods when she is taken hostage by a man dressed completely in black which immediately makes us think that he is bad as robbers tend to wear mostly black clothing e.g. masks to cover their faces and conceal their identity.this shot used natural lighting and it is shot in woodland likely to be near to the hero who in this case would be John.

This shot reverse back to John as he picks up a flower and examine it which also implies that he is good as it shows that he enjoys nature. This shot is very boring as their is not a lot going on. The lighting used for this shot seems to be natural light as it is used throughout the music video and this shot is taken outside.

this shot reveres back to the comic theme as when the hero see the villain it shows him in a cortoonistic or comic book style. the colours used in this shot also help to show that he is the bad guy as red represents blood and black represents death which make the viewer believe that he is evil.

This shot shows both the hero (John) and the villain  as he runs toward him to attack. this shot shows us that the background at least beyond the trees is animated as it becomes extremely bright and orange where in the next shot it is clear and blue. the lighting used in this shot is natural light although some orange and brightness has been digitally added.

Here the shot is of an animation of the villain jumping down onto the hero as the hero goes to hit him. the animation used on the people and the grass is of a high quality although the sky and trees are blurred out and appear to be out of focus. since this shot is animated the lighting is likely to of been done digitally on a computer.

This shot shows the hero (John) as he finds the villains hostage and saves her which is following the comic book story as the hero has defeated the villain and has saved the hostage. the lighting used for this shot seems to be natural light although the editor has darkened the edges of the clip to give it more contrast.

Overall

this music video uses a story troughout similar to one in a comic book which is also implyed by effects and animations used along with the wall of comics shown at the beginning. this music video like many others also syncs its cuts with the beats but unlike many other music videos there are only a few cuts used. the lighting used troughout this music video is mainly natural light with some digital enhancements to attract some shots to the viewer more than others. the costumes used for this music video are very unique as they are something that you wouldn'y usually see which makes us belive that they are different to the normal person which in a way also related to the theme of comics.
